To design a platform that genuinely meets the needs of skincare enthusiasts, it was important to first understand their behaviors, preferences, and frustrations. I set out to explore how people currently discover products, what sources they rely on, and the factors that influence their trust in reviews. This research aimed to uncover not only the gaps in existing platforms, but also the oppurtunities to create a space that feels reliablr, community-driven, and tailored to each user’s unique skin profile.

Sleepnosis is designed for individuals seeking to enhance sleep quality and explore the full potential of their dream experiences. These audiences share an interest in optimizing mental and physical well-being through innovative, technology-driven solutions.

Tech-Savvy Wellness Enthusiasts: These users are interested in the intersection of technology and personal well-being. They actively seek tools that improve sleep quality, mental clarity, and overall health, and are open to integrating innovative products into their routines.

Individuals Interested in Lucid Dreaming: These users are drawn to the idea of conscious dreaming and subconscious exploration. They are motivated by self-discovery, creativity, and the potential to influence their dream experiences for personal growth.

Skincare has become an esssential part of modern self-care. These days it’s sooner with the rise of social media and influencers promoting self-care and the importance of skin health.

Product Direction

To ensure seamless integration into daily life, the pillow format was selected as the primary product form. A pillow is already central to the sleep ritual, requiring no new habit formation. This allowed the technology concept to feel intuitive rather than intrusive.

The product concept centers on three guiding principles:

  • Support deeper REM sleep cycles
  • Influence dream states through frequency based stimulation
  • Enhance emotional and cognitive well being through improved sleep quality

Together, these principles shaped both the product functionality and the broader brand narrative.

Visual Design

Skincare has become an esssential part of modern self-care. These days it’s sooner with the rise of social media and influencers promoting self-care and the importance of skin health.

Website and Companion App

The Sleepnosis brand was extended into both a marketing website and a companion mobile application to demonstrate a cohesive product ecosystem.

The website serves as the primary point of purchase and product education, communicating the science-inspired concept and guiding users through features and benefits. The layout emphasizes clarity, trust, and a calm visual tone aligned with the brand identity.

The companion app allows users to personalize their sleep experience by selecting dream categories and preferences. Through the app, users can choose guided dream states such as Fully Lucid, Relaxing, or Creative, reinforcing the product’s core promise of intentional sleep experiences.

Sleep deprivation is a widespread issue. Globally, 62% of adults report not sleeping well, and over 70 million Americans experience chronic sleep disorders. In the United States alone, insufficient sleep contributes to an estimated $411 billion in annual economic loss.

Beyond productivity, the consequences of poor sleep are personal and physiological. Adults between the ages of 18–64 require 7–9 hours of sleep per night, yet many fail to achieve consistent, high-quality rest.

Why REM Sleep Matters

REM sleep plays a critical role in cognitive and physical restoration. Research shows that adequate REM sleep supports memory consolidation, immune system function, and emotional regulation. During sleep, the brain continues processing information, and the depth and quality of this processing can directly impact overall well-being.

Insufficient REM sleep has been linked to memory impairment, weakened immunity, and decreased mental clarity.

While many sleep products focus on comfort or external environment, fewer address the neurological aspect of sleep cycles and dream states. This presents an opportunity to explore how technology could support deeper rest by aligning with natural brainwave patterns during sleep.

Sleepnosis was conceptualized to explore this intersection between wellness and frequency-based stimulation, positioning the pillow as both a comfort product and a sleep-enhancement device.

The idea for Sleepnosis was rooted in the belief that sleep is one of the most essential yet overlooked pillars of well being. Research consistently highlights the cognitive, emotional, and physical benefits of quality sleep, particularly during REM cycles. At the same time, both sleep and hypnosis are known to influence brainwave activity in meaningful ways.

This intersection inspired the core concept behind Sleepnosis. The product was envisioned as more than a comfort item. It became a speculative wellness device designed to emit calibrated frequencies intended to align with natural brainwave states during sleep. By exploring the connection between subconscious processing and dream activity, the concept positions sleep as an opportunity for restoration, creativity, and intentional mental engagement rather than passive rest alone.

The visual identity for Sleepnosis was designed to evoke calm, depth, and subtle innovation. Soft hues create a soothing foundation that reflects rest and dream states, while darker tones introduce contrast and reinforce the product’s connection to nighttime and the subconscious.

A clean sans-serif type system was selected to maintain clarity and modernity, balancing the ethereal concept with a grounded, technology-forward feel. Together, the color palette and typography create a smooth, cohesive aesthetic that supports the brand’s focus on wellness, neuroscience, and sensory experience.
